Testosterone Lawyer Reports on Study: Testosterone Therapy May Cause Heart Attacks
Dr. Israel Barken, the medical director of the Prostate Cancer Research and Educational Foundation, discusses potential harms of undergoing testosterone replacement therapy. He discusses the recent study that reflected an increased risk of cardiovascular events among men. The study at issue took place between 2005 and 2011 in the Veteran Affairs (VA) system. The conclusion was that “among a cohort of men in the VA health system who underwent coronary angiography and had a low serum testosterone level, the use of testosterone therapy was associated with an increased risk of adverse outcomes. These findings may inform the discussion about the potential risks of testosterone therapy.”
Testosterone medications, like AndroGel, Androderm, Axiron, Depotestosterone, Fortesta, and Testim, could increase the percentage of red blood cells in your blood. The increase in red blood cells can cause strokes, blood clots, and possibly death.
